Contributions of forced and intrinsic initial oceanic conditions to Mediterranean Sea variability.
|Results||Intrinsic variability generates for most variables larger errors than drift-related uncertainties, so that mesoscale-related errors are the most significant in the initial state. The forced oceanic variability dominates in nearly all cases over the intrinsic or drift-related uncertainty, so that the Mediterranean Sea historical properties are mostly a ‘boundary condition’ problem set by surface and lateral forcings.|
